Rafting Tour: River & Railroad Adventure
Presentation
Three and a half hours by road from Medellín, we will reach the Magdalena Medio region, where we will enjoy a unique Colombian landscape: the exuberant mountains that the founding muleteers of the Paisa culture traveled, the tropical rainforest, a river with rapids that promise an exciting day of canoeing (rafting) and where, in addition, artisanal gold mining is practiced. Finally, you will be able to travel on the railroad track where the old Antioquia Railroad used to run, in handcrafted carriages, just like the local population does. As you travel along the railroad tracks, in the midst of lush vegetation you will see villages and hamlets that are now almost forgotten, but were very popular in the days when the Antioquia Railroad operated (1929 to 1999). In this experience you will connect with nature and with typical expressions of the life of the paisa people before the development of Medellín as an industrial metropolis.

Itinerary
– Pick up at your place of preference (hotel, lodging, any other, within the urban area).
– Mid-morning snack: a stop is made along the way for a typical Antioquian drink (aguapanela, hot chocolate or mazamorra).
– Rafting: a boat ride of approximately two hours. You will pass through rapids, areas of “barequeo” (artisanal gold mining), a place to have lunch and take a bath in the river and you will be able to visit some peasant houses (subject to availability of its inhabitants).
– Transportation in handcrafted carriages: a tour of approximately 45 minutes, crossing the tropical rainforest of the Magdalena Medio area.
– Short walk through the square of a typical town in the Magdalena Medio region of Antioquia.
– We will drop you off at the place you indicate (hotel, lodging, any other, within the urban area).
